Adult Hockey League Schedule Change

November 10, 2011

Adult League Players,
The League schedule this year is going to change slightly.  There will be no league games over the Thanksgiving week(November 21-23).  Each team will still play their 9 games we are just bumping the schedule back a week.  A,B,C Playoffs will now be on December 12-14.  Championship games for A,B,C will be on December 19-21.

In years past we have always taken a league break over Thanksgiving week, I’m not sure why I did not originally do it this year when I made the schedule.  I have received many emails and comments over the last week or so informing me of this fact.  I apologize if this inconveniences any of you.  The new schedule is posted at the rink and on the website.

The Ice is IN!

September 12, 2011

The ice is in! The ice is in!!! Let’s play hockey. You can view the schedule on the website: www.stumptowniceden.com

Don’t foget about the adult hockey skills class starting next week.
I still need a captain each in A B and C.

Drafts are Sept. 28 & 29. ALL PLAYERS MUST BE REGISTERED BY SEPT. 27.

Something new for league this year that I know you will all enjoy: I am contracting the Glacier Nationals videographer, Scott Capestany, to enhance our already awesome adult league program. He is going to film many parts of our league season starting with the draft and ending with a live broadcast of all three(A,B,C) championship games. There will be multiple camera angles, pre/post game interviews, and much more. Stay tuned for more information…

Getting the ice in this year proved quite challenging for me and my staff. Equipment failure, working night shifts, excessive heat, nothing can stop us. Special thanks to Justin Riechers and John Hoepfer for busting thier humps with me the last three weeks to get the ice in. It looks great!!! We did it! … (that means you should all tell Justin and John thanks when you see them)

Cheers,

Rink Openning Delayed

September 8, 2011

To all friends of the ice rink,

Due to the unseasonal warm temperatures this week the ice rink will not open as originally scheduled on Friday September 9th. My staff and I have been working diligently to have the facility ready, but mother nature has other plans for the next few days. We are half way through the ice making process, our refrigeration system is operating at it’s maximum capacity. Finishing the ice making coupled with the warm ambient temperatures would exceed the capacities of our refrigeration system.

The current plan is to open the facility on Monday September 12th at 5:00pm. The weather channel says it will be a little cooler next week. Cross your fingers for cold, yucky Montana weather. :) The new schedule is available at www.stumptowniceden.com

The first week of the adult hockey skills camp will also be cancelled.  The camp will be available Sept. 19-21 and 26-28.

Please pass this message on to anyone you may know in the hockey/skating community.

10-days till opening!

August 30, 2011

Hello hockey friends,

Get your gear out, blow the dust off your skates, find your stick, only 10 days until our skates hit the ice! I will start making ice on Thursday or Friday of this week. I’ll paint the lines and logos over the weekend, and build the ice up next week.

It’s hard to believe it’s that time already.
Here are some important dates to remember:
Sept. 9th – opening day.Sept. 12th – Openning day
Sept. 24th – skate swap
Sept. 28th and 29th – League drafts.
Oct. 3-5 first week of league.
Dec. 19-21 last week of league.

Games again this year are at 9:15pm and 10:45pm. The big change this year is moving B league to Monday Night. Thursday night will now be a A,B,C, drop-in. It’s still $10 to skate. League registration is $35. Season pass-$440(same as last year). Punch card-$190(same as last year).
If you would like to be a captain or if I told you it’s time to be a captain, please contact me.

Thanks Bob Ohlson for organizing the goalie meeting last night and getting the first month of drop-ins scheduled. If there are any new goalies around, get them in touch with me.

If anybody is interested in coaching the kids, contact me. Murray said they are short on coaches this year. I’m not sure what level he needs, there is a coaches clinic the first week of the season.

If anybody is interested in refereeing the kids or adults, contact me. KJ will be doing a ref clinic the first or second week of the season.

I spent many hours over the summer preparing for the Glacier Nationals. We are doing some small renovations to the old warming house this week. That is going to be their office/locker room. They have about 26 young men on the roster, they are arriving now daily from Portland, or Spokane, or Alaska, or Seattle. I have met many of them this week. They will play 22 home games from mid October to mid February. They are still in need of two host families. We have about 8 families hosting kids so far, but one family has like 6 kids. Contact me for more details if you are interested.

The Nationals are also looking for a bus driver. It’s a paid position, must have class B license with passenger endorsement.

You can find Nationals schedule, tournament dates and the entire season schedule on the website www.stumptowniceden.com

I will be continuing to update the website over the next few weeks so keep in touch.

I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Yetis Win B, “Beeracle” Run Ends

April 19, 2011

The “B” League finals are final, and another year of Adult league is complete.  Last night the 2nd seed Yetis finished off the 4th seed Space Invaders and claimed their place on the cup.  The final score was 4-1 in game #2, and the Yetis had already won game one by the score of 7-4.

Captain Wade Rademacher picked a solid team.  Braedon Schenk and Ryan Kann were dominant forces on offense, and defensmen Dave Castro and JD Goding helped goalie Josh Guessler close the doors–holding the Invaders to only one late goal.

So it was an early out for this year’s Cinderella story, the Space Invaders who completed the upset of the century in round one.  ”In the end, we are 2-8-1.  We are who we thought we were.  I think the Yetis were damn happy we beat the Hatters.” said one anonymous Invader.

Timberwolves Sweep “A” Series

April 14, 2011
2011 Spring Champion Timberwolves: Back Row: Casey Malmquist, Ryan Ulvin, Paul Moffatt, Graham McDonald, Murray Craven, Seth Dornbusch, Don Herne, Lou Buria Front Row: Chris Ridder, Russ Sikorsky, Goalie Kevin Kelleher, Matt Kennedy, Cory Chopp

2011 Spring Champion Timberwolves

Wednesday April 13th.  The second league season ended last night.  The Timberwolves finished off the Cougars with two straight wins to claim the Spring 2011 “A” championship.  The ‘Wolves dominated from the start, putting up the first five goals of the game and keeping the Cougars blanked until the final seconds.

The win doesn’t change the historic leaderboard of championships for individuals, but it does pull Seth Dornbusch into a seven-way tie for the lead with his 5th “A” league championship.  Its also the 4th season win for Murray Craven and Chris Ridder.

Team Captain Jeff Metsky could not be reach for comments, as he wasn’t able to make the game, and team assistant captain Lou Buria was busy texting.
